Rates for Monolingual and Bilingual Transcription

The basic fees below are for one speaker.

Basic Fees

Smart verbatim transcription

Monolingual: My basic rate for smart verbatim transcription of English audio or video files is €1.50 per audio minute.

Bilingual: My basic rate for smart verbatim Dutch-to-English transcription of audio or video files is €10 per audio minute.

Full verbatim transcription

Monolingual: My basic rate for full verbatim transcription of English audio or video files is €2 per audio minute.

Bilingual: My basic rate for full verbatim Dutch-to-English transcription of audio or video files is €15 per audio minute.

Time stamping

Time stamping every 5 minutes: FREE

Time stamping every 3 minutes: +€0.12 per minute

Time stamping every 2 minutes: +€0.18 per minute

Time stamping every 1 minute: +€0.24 per minute

Time stamping every 30 seconds: +€0.38 per minute

Time stamping every 15 seconds: +€0.51 per minute

Time stamping every 10 seconds: +€0.77 per minute

Time stamping every 05 seconds: +€0.93 per minute

Other forms of time stamping can be provided, such as change of speaker, new paragraph, new sentence, et cetera.

Turnaround times

My standard minimum turnaround time per hour of clear audio is 48 hours, Monday to Friday. This is for smart or full verbatim transcription of one or two speakers. Poor audio quality and extra options such as extra speakers and time stamping may increase this turnaround time. All turnaround times are subject to availability. It may be possible to expedite delivery. There is a surcharge for this service of between 25% and 100%.

Additional charges

I may need to apply additional charges for dealing with features of the audio that affect the quality of the transcription. These will always be agreed in advance with you before work on your transcription begins, or as soon as possible thereafter if the issue isn't immediately apparent. These include, but are not limited to:

• poor audio quality

•  background noise

• speakers with strong accents or dialects or who talk very quickly

• crosstalk

• subjects requiring extra research

• using a format that is significantly different from the Versitaal house style

What else do you need to know?

These prices are meant as a guide only. Please keep in mind that every transcription is unique, so I cannot tell you with exact precision what it will cost and how long it will take until I have heard at least a sample of the file(s).

• I will do my best to accommodate your special requirements. Just ask!

• I do not apply VAT charges.

• My minimum charge for transcription is €29.00.

• I charge per transcribed minute or part thereof, but I usually round to the nearest half minute.

• Turnaround times do not include weekends or public holidays.

• If typing or other errors are made by me, they will be corrected free of charge if the work is resubmitted within 48 hours. Correction of errors reported after 48 hours and any other corrections, changes or additions requested by you can be made at a rate of €29 per hour.

Payment

Invoices will usually be sent after all of your files have been transcribed, and you have approved them. However, if your project is particularly large, I may invoice in batches as work is completed rather than at the end. Payment is required within 30 days. My preferred payment method is bank transfer. Payments can also be made via PayPal, Wise and Payoneer.
